In February, the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) made available $1.5 billion in federal funding to modernize bus fleets and deploy clean transit buses across America. The funding can be used by transit agencies to purchase buses, including low-emission vehicles, and the construction of bus facilities, including replacing, rehabilitating, purchasing or leasing capital assets that will improve, expand, or enhance bus service. The application deadline is April 25, 2024.
The FTA will host a webinar to provide information to potential applicants, including a review of program eligibility, an overview of the evaluation criteria and selection considerations, and the submission process. The webinar will be February 22, 2024 from 1:00 – 2:30 pm ET and will be a general session for all applicants. Register for the webinar or watch a recording here.
If you need support with funding, we’ve developed a federal grant guide to consider all funding options for the improvement of fare collection systems and all other aspects of providing better transit service. The Bus/Bus Facility and Low-No programs are included in this catalog.
Agencies wishing to discuss how this program can be used to upgrade fare collection as a part of any bus or low-emission bus purchase should contact the Business Development Director in your region.
